Critical reflections on moral education in the middle and high school and bio-medical ethics education
Kim Sang-Don

Abstract
This paper is on moral education of bio-medical ethics, specially for middle and high school. Whang¡¯s scandal gave us a lot of lessons. Above all we learned that a rigid ethical standard should govern bio-medical researches. But Research Ethics may be not the essence of Whang¡¯s scandal, for many people of us still wait for junior Whang who willingly observes the rule about an egg donation procedure etc.. Therefore they do not think Whang¡¯s research itself has moral problems. Except Research Ethics, their bio-medical ethical consciousness has not changed. At this point something is wrong. We must rethink our moral beliefs about bio-medical situations such as life, death, pain and happiness. Our history of moral debates on bio-medical issues is not long, moreover it¡¯s density and extent too is not enough. From now we need to reorganize festina lente the program for our bio-medical consciousness¡¯ maturity. In this paper, the importance of a moral education for middle and high school about modern bio-medical issues is proposed. Our present level of it is not high. Particularly the bio-medical ethics education of a curriculum of moral education does not get out of traditional moral principle about bio-medical issues, and then does not touch the core of modern bio-medical ethical issues. Some problem in curriculum and text books are needed to resolve.
